GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The Parish Pastoral Council is the primary leadership ministry at Saint Mary of the Assumption parish.  The Council consists of elected and appointed parishioners of Saint Mary's who meet with the Pastor to discuss, plan, deliberate and resolve matters of our parish life. The Council usually meets on the fourth Monday of each month. Meetings are open to all members of the parish, who are encouraged to attend. Parishioners are encouraged to submit suggestions, comments, and questions to the Agenda Committee prior to the meeting.

PARISH COUNCIL TAKES ON NEW RESPONSIBILITIES

After many months of research, reflection and discussion, St. Mary of the Assumption Parish Council began a new era of leadership.  The Council hopes to take on more of the planning responsibilities for the direction our parish will take.  This new direction will take a while to fully implement.  This will be greatly enhanced with the skills and enthusiasm of five new members who came forward during our recent search.  Over the years the Council has reviewed and voted on all major parish decisions.  However, most of the meeting time was used to keep the many parish ministries in touch with and accountable to the broader parish.  The new council will engage in a more positive process of planning , goal setting and review of parish ministries and resources.  We hope to create solid lines of communication between parishioners and leadership.  Three members of the council represented our parish at the Diocesan Pastoral Planning Conference in Worcester.
