Introduction

A Reverence for the Past

A Commitment to the Present

A Vision for the Future

Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Milford, Massachusetts is the second oldest and largest Roman Catholic Community in Central Massachusetts. The first Saint Mary of the Assumption Church was dedicated in 1849.

In a world that has become more and more transient and disconnected, Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish has been an enduring source of stability, continuity and commitment to the Roman Catholic tradition for over one hundred and fifty years. For those raised in Milford it has been the custodian of our heritage with all its memories, stories and personal family events. For our many new families it has become a "home away from home", helping us keep in touch with what is most enduring in our own lives. Together we have enriched and strengthened one another.

A Tithing Community

If a parish is really alive with the Spirit of Jesus Christ, it must reflect God’s generous love in its community life. "See how they love one another" was the reputation the early church had among their neighbors. Our own Saint Mary’s parish is trying to be a living example of God’s love in the world. Although we often struggle to live that love, there are many exciting and profound ways that God’s love is already evident. Saint Mary is a tithing community that gives ten percent of every Sunday collection to the poor. We encourage and challenge you to become involved in the ministries, committees or groups that make Saint Mary's such a vibrant and caring community.
